ME Week – New Employee Orientation Program

by | Jan 25, 2022 | Company Updates

In 2018, we rolled out a new employee orientation program called ME Week which focuses on familiarizing new hires with our organization and our people. Three times a year, we bring our new employees together to foster relationships, learn about our various business units, strategy, innovation and the great people who built and work inside our company.

Over the past several months, we have been fortunate to welcome many new faces to our team and were excited for them to participate in the January 2022 ME Week program. Throughout the week, they had the opportunity to attend a number of informative sessions presented by members of our executive team and business unit leaders.

  • Workforce Development & Acquisition
  • HR & Employee Experience
  • Work Efficiently with Preconstruction
  • Building & Maintaining Relationships
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
  • Predictive Index & Strengths
  • Financial Responsibilities & Practices
  • Safety as a Core Value

In addition to the informative sessions, our ME Week attendees were able to build relationships and collaborate with their new colleagues at several networking events, including a trip to Culhane’s Irish Pub and Top Golf. While these events give our new hires the opportunity to interact with each other, it also allows them to build relationships with members of our leadership team and the ME Week presenters.

Grey Valera is a Payroll Administrator in Jacksonville and she has really enjoyed having the opportunity to meet new people, and learn more about how our business units work together and support one another. She found Alex Willis’s session on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to be very impactful, and she loved his energy and passion during his presentation. When asked what her favorite thing about working at Miller Electric is, she did not hesitate when she responded with her ability to help people. She said that she finds great satisfaction when she is able to resolve an issue for a fellow employee.

Andy Osuna, a new Assistant Project Manager for our Healthcare team, said that he really enjoyed the ME Week experience and particularly enjoyed Donnie Smith’s presentation about building and cultivating relationships. He was also interested in Tim Hinson’s session on Workforce Development and what Miller Electric is doing to build the future of our trade.  Andy is looking forward to taking the things he learned throughout the week back to our Deerfield Beach branch office to collaborate more efficiently with his team.
