MECO Management Development Program

The key to the ongoing success of Miller Electric Company is continuous recruitment and consistent development of the next generation of project managers.  This year, we introduced the Management Development Program (MDP) with the goal of developing entry-level Project Associates into well-rounded Miller Electric Company Project Managers.

The MDP is a career progression from Project Associate to Senior Project Associate, to Assistant Project Manager, to Project Manager.  It is expected to take 5 to 7 years and includes at least 10,000 hours of on the job experience and approximately 1,000 hours of classroom and self-paced learning.  

During the past year, we have focused our recruiting efforts from universities local to our offices, as well as universities known to have a focus on Electrical or Specialty Contracting.  We have also included individuals from our veterans community, as well as exceptional apprenticeship graduates that are interested in a career in project management.

A career as a Project Manager at Miller Electric Company can be very meaningful and rewarding with unlimited opportunities for continued growth, challenges and development throughout their entire career.  For a Project Manager at our company, the sky’s the limit.

Goal: To develop entry-level project associates into well-rounded Miller Electric Company project managers within 5-7 years so that it is indistinguishable of their educational background or their prior experience.
