Mr. Long is the President of Miller Electric Company, as well as a member of the Board of Directors. His primary emphasis is vertical markets corporate client development, labor relations, and company expansion.
A North Florida native, Mr. Long began his career at Miller Electric out of high school in 1975 as a construction wireman, and entered the NECA/IBEW Electrical Apprenticeship in 1977. After his apprenticeship graduation in 1981, he worked as a service technician, foreman, and general foreman before being promoted to field supervisor of large accounts in 1985. He began his management career in 1991 as an estimator, earning promotions to Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, and in 2002, Vice President of the Corporate Services Group. As Vice President, he led the expansion of the company beyond its roots, and opened branch offices throughout the Southeast. This expansion allowed Miller Electric to grow not only geographically, but his leadership added many corporate accounts to the company portfolio. During this period of time, Mr. Long also graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Nova Southeastern University. He was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2004, and to President in September of 2012.
Through his involvement in the National Electrical Contractors Association, Mr. Long is seen as a leader throughout the electrical contracting industry. He served as Governor of the NECA North Florida Chapter and as NECA National District 3 Vice President. He has chaired the National Workforce Development Committee and NECA Compensation Committee, and co-chaired several organizations including the National Electrical Training Alliance, Council of Industrial Relations, National Labor Task Force, and the National LMCC Committee. Mr. Long was awarded the NECA Coggeshall Award in 2012, and was inducted into the Academy of Electrical Contracting in 2013. In 2018, Mr. Long was elected as the new President of the National Electrical Contractors Association.
Outside of the industry, he has served as President of the Jacksonville Leukemia Society, and Executive Board Member of the Dreams Come True Foundation. He is trustee of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, and Executive Committee Member and Chairman of the Jax Sports Council and Taxslayer Bowl Association. He is also member of the United Way Tocqueville.Back to Leadership
