2021 Excellence in Construction Awards

by | Sep 30, 2021 | Electrical Contracting

Miller Electric Company took home one Eagle award and one Pyramid award at this year’s Associated Builders and Contractors Florida First Coast Chapter Excellence in Construction Awards. The Excellence in Construction awards program is the industry’s leading competition that honors both general and specialty contractors for innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects. The award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer. The winning projects, selected from entries submitted from across the nation, were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost.

Florida State University Bus Charging Stations – Eagle Award

Florida State University is setting the benchmark for schools across America looking to go green, thanks to their new fleet of electric buses. Last year, FSU transitioned to a sustainable transportation fleet by investing in buses from Proterra, a company that manufactures electric vehicles for public transportation.

Running a zero emission electric bus fleet requires a lot of power. Miller Electric Company stepped in to help by installing two fast-charging stations at two different bus stops on campus. They also constructed all the necessary infrastructure required to operate an EV fleet of such a large scale. These state-of-the-art charging stations can take a 35-foot, 28-person electric bus from “empty” to a full charge in about 10 minutes.

Vystar Credit Union Corporate Headquarters

Miller Electric recently completed the first four phases of Vystar Credit Union’s new company headquarters. After completing the installation of generators and a new UPS system, we worked to buildout their new offices, conference rooms, cafe, breakrooms and game area.

Vystar is committed to improving downtown for its customers and employees. Vystar has future plans to renovate the adjacent building and to light up the Jacksonville skyline with an exterior lighting project.
