On July 11, the Florida First Coast Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) held the annual Excellence in Construction Awards. Miller Electric is honored to have been the recipient of three of these prestigious awards.
Eagle Award for Excellence in Construction for the J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Baptist Hospital Tower
The J. Wayne and Delores Weaver Tower was an important project for Baptist Medical Center and Wolfson Children’s Hospital, as well as for the Jacksonville community. This advanced building is the first health system in North Florida that provides real time imaging tests to neurosurgeons, as they perform adult and pediatric surgeries and procedures. All of us at Miller Electric feel fortunate to have been able to participate on this project and we are honored to have worked with an amazing team, led by Batson-Cook. This was one of the most gratifying projects in the history of Miller Electric. Coordination and scheduling with all team members worked seamlessly and successfully. The success of the J Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Tower brought not only an immense sense of accomplishment to everyone involved, but it also brought an exciting opportunity for state-of-the-art technology for the Jacksonville community.

Individual Award of Excellence for Project Superintendent – Mike Cannady
Mike began his career in the electrical trade in 1968 with Miller Electric Company. He has managed some of the largest and most complicated projects in the history of our company. In fact, there are probably not many buildings in the Jacksonville skyline that Mike hasn’t had a hand in, whether as a worker or in a supervisory capacity. His contributions over his 46 year history at Miller Electric have not only positively impacted our company, but have also been major contributions to our community.
Mike is one of the most accomplished supervisors at Miller Electric. He is well known throughout our industry. One of the most overheard statements about Mr. Cannady is: “If Mike is on your project, get ready for things to get moving!” He is a detailed planner and scheduler, and is not afraid to try new technology and techniques.
Mike is a leader in our industry. He is one of a kind; he sets the pace and continues to help mentor the young field leaders of tomorrow. All of us at Miller Electric are privileged to have worked with Mike Cannady. Congratulations Mike!
