Daniel Brown is the Chief Operations Officer for Miller Electric Company and a member of the Board of Directors. Along with his brother Henry, he is the third generation of his family to serve a role at the senior executive level of the company.
A Jacksonville native and graduate of The Bolles School, Mr. Brown began his career at Miller Electric in 1999 as an Electrician’s Helper while also attending college at the University of North Florida (UNF). He graduated from UNF in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction. After graduation, he worked as a project manager for J. H. Haynes Electric Company in Gulfport, MS where he worked on multiple projects ranging from street lighting at a local community college, to the Isle of Capri Hotel Addition. He was also involved in multiple disaster recovery projects after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2005.
In 2006, Mr. Brown returned to Miller Electric and immediately began working as part of the project team for a large data center project in Richmond, VA. This project was, at the time, the largest project ever performed by the company. Mr. Brown moved back to Jacksonville in 2008 as a Project Manager. He has since managed a wide range of projects including data centers, religious facilities, government buildings, and large hotels. Through these projects, he gained considerable experience and demonstrated his aptitude for organization of large complex estimates and project administration. Additionally, he demonstrated his leadership and competency in the electrical field by obtaining Electrical Contractor and/or Master Electrician licenses in nine states.
Mr. Brown was promoted to Corporate Vice President of Operation in 2012, then Chief Operation Officer in 2015. He is primarily responsible for the development and management of estimating and project controls. Additionally, he has responsibility for other areas of operations including safety, facilities and equipment, and technology. This role puts him in contact with virtually every aspect and individual within the business.
In addition to his work with the company, Mr. Brown is a committed philanthropist in the Jacksonville community. He is a member of United Way of Northeast Florida’s Tocqueville Society and sits on the Young Philanthropists Committee. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the local affiliate of ACE Mentoring.Back to Leadership
