Chief Executive Officer
Henry K. Brown is the Chief Executive Officer for Miller Electric Company, as well as a member of the Board of Directors. He is a third-generation CEO of the company, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, H.E. Autrey, his uncle Ron Autrey, and his mother Susan Walden (CFO).
A Jacksonville native, he attended Stetson University where earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a minor in Business Law. He earned his Masters of Accountancy from Stetson’s Business School and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed by the State of Florida. After graduating from Stetson, he started his career as an Auditor for Deloitte where he worked with clients in wide range of industries including Logistics, Manufacturing, Government, and Non-Profit. Following Deloitte, he worked as a Financial Analyst for Atlantic Marine where he was exposed to leading manufacturing and construction practices.
Mr. Brown joined the company in 2001 as the Controller with responsibility over Accounting and Information Systems. He became a corporate officer in 2003 with his promotion to Assistant Secretary-Treasurer. He took on additional responsibilities and leadership roles as he progressed through the company as Vice President, and later Sr. Vice President of Corporate Affairs. He was promoted to CEO of the company in October of 2012.
In his current role as Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Brown is the leader of the senior management team with a focus on strategic planning and organizational development to best position the company for long-term success. He works with other members of the management team on business development and industry relations, and stays involved with every major project. He also works closely with outside counsel on all legal affairs for the company, and with outside advisors for financial planning, risk management, and surety bonding.
In addition to his formal education, Mr. Brown has significant continuing education in the electrical contracting industry and broader construction industry. He is a graduate of NECA’s Executive Management Institute (EMI), a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP), and a Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS).
Outside of his work at the company, Mr. Brown is involved in a variety of community and industry organizations. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Jacksonville Country Day School; a member of the Executive Committee of Stetson University’s Family Enterprise Center; a member of the Executive Advisory Board for JU’s Davis College of Business; Co-Chairman of NECA’s Future Industry Leaders Task Force; a member of NECA’s Electri Council; a member of the Board of Directors of NECA’s North Florida Chapter; a member of the Board of Directors of the CFMA Northeast Florida Chapter; a member of the Board of Directors of United Way of Northeast Florida; a member of the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association of North Florida; a member of the JAXChamber Board of Directors; a member of the JAXUSA Partnership Advisory Council; and a member of the Board of Directors of Affinity Insurance, Ltd.
When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer and their three daughters Gracie, Emma, and Abby.
Daniel A. Brown
Chief Operations Officer
Corporate Vice President of OperationsDaniel Autrey Brown is the Corporate Vice President of Operations for Miller Electric Company and a member of the Board of Directors. Along with his brother, Henry, he is the third generation of his family to serve a role at the senior executive level of Miller Electric.
A Jacksonville native and graduate of The Bolles School, Mr. Brown began his career at Miller Electric in 1999 as an Electrician’s Helper while also attending college at the University of North Florida. He graduated from UNF in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction. After graduation, he worked as a project manager for J. H. Haynes Electric Company in Gulfport, MS where he worked on multiple projects ranging from street lighting at a local community college to the Isle of Capri Hotel Addition. He was also involved in multiple hurricane recovery projects after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2005.
In 2006, Mr. Brown returned to Miller Electric and immediately began working as part of the project team for a large data center project in Richmond, VA. This project was, at the time, the largest project ever performed by the company. Mr. Brown moved back to Jacksonville in 2008 as a Project Manager. He has since managed a wide range of projects including data centers, religious facilities, government buildings, and large hotel projects. Through these projects, he gained considerable experience and demonstrated his aptitude for organization of large complex estimates and project administration. Additionally, he has demonstrated his leadership and competency in the electrical field by obtaining Electrical Contractor and/or Master Electrician licenses in 9 states.
Mr. Brown was promoted to Corporate Vice President of Operations in 2012. He is primarily responsible for the development and management of estimating and project controls. Additionally, he has responsibility for other areas of operations including safety, facilities and equipment, and technology. This role puts him in contact with virtually every aspect and individual within the business.
In addition to his work in the company, Mr. Brown is a committed philanthropist in the Jacksonville Community. He is a member of United Way of Northeast Florida’s Tocqueville Society and sits on the Young Philanthropists Committee. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the local affiliate of ACE Mentoring. He is an active parishioner at San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church in St. Johns County and is a Third Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Mrs. Walden is the Executive Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Miller Electric Company. She has been employed in the company’s finance department since 1974, and she has worked in all areas of the department. She has extensive education and training in corporate finance, accounting, information systems, and general management.
Mrs. Walden is the executive manager over the administrative functions of the company. Her responsibilities include general accounting, treasury, payroll, bonding, audit, and risk management. She also has executive responsibility over data processing and information systems. Additionally, Mrs. Walden and her team work closely with project management to ensure that proper cost control and reporting procedures are followed.
Mr. Long is the President of Miller Electric Company, as well as a member of the Board of Directors. His primary emphasis is corporate client development, labor relations, and company expansion.
A North Florida Native, Mr. Long began his career at Miller Electric out of high school in 1975 as a construction wireman, then entering the NECA/IBEW Electrical Apprenticeship in 1977. After apprenticeship graduation in 1981, he has worked as a service technician, foreman, general foreman, to field supervisor of large accounts in 1985. He began his management career in 1991 as an estimator before being promoted to Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, and Vice President of the Corporate Services Division in 2002. As Vice President of the Corporate Services Division, he led the expansion of the company beyond its roots, and opened branch offices throughout the Southeast. This expansion allowed Miller Electric to grow not only geographically, but his leadership added many corporate accounts to the company portfolio. During this period of time, Mr. Long also graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Nova Southeastern University. He was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2004 and to President in September of 2012.
Today, Mr. Long is one of the primary license holders in the company. He currently holds electrical contracting licenses in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Through his involvement in the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), Mr. Long is seen as a leader in the electrical contracting industry. He served as Governor of NECA North Florida Chapter, the National Workforce Development Committee for NECA, and The National Joint Apprenticeship Committee. He currently serves as the NECA National Workforce Development Chairman and District 3 Vice President. Mr. Long was awarded the Coggeshall Award in 2012, and was inducted in the Academy of Electrical Contracting in 2013. This award was established in 1956 as a result of a bequest to the Association by Allan Coggeshall to honor a member of the Association who is adjudged to have made an outstanding contribution to the progress of the industry in the Technical and Training Service field.
Outside the industry, he has served as President and Board Member of National Leukemia Society, and Executive Board Member of the Dreams Come True Foundation. He is a Trustee of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, and Executive Committee Member of the Gator Bowl Association. He is a United Way Tocqueville Member and a Rotarian.
Edward E. Witt, Jr.
Senior Vice President
Ed Witt, Jr is the Senior Vice President of Construction for Miller Electric Company and a member of the Board of Directors. He is a second generation senior executive. A Jacksonville native, he attended the University of Florida where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. While at the University of Florida, Mr. Witt was an active member of The Kappa Alpha Order. Upon graduation in 1990, he began his employment at Miller Electric Company.
After initial training level positions of Estimator and Assistant Project Manager, and various industry specific management training courses, Mr. Witt took on the challenge of becoming the company’s first safety coordinator. His efforts of standardizing safety procedures and documentation, as well as, ensuring compliance standards were known and followed, and laid the foundation for Miller Electric Company’s current Safety Department. In 1996, Mr. Witt became a Project Manager and began an 8 year run of managing some of the most high profile construction projects in Northeast Florida including the Golf Hall of Fame, Renovations and Expansions to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium (Everbank Field), The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, The New Downtown Library and multiple expansion projects at Jacksonville International Airport.
In 2003, Mr. Witt was promoted to Vice President of the Commercial Division, where he continued to lead the company’s efforts on large, high profile construction projects. The Commercial Division was the company’s leader in developing new and innovative project delivery methods including the establishment of Miller Electric’s pre-fabrication facility. In 2012, Mr. Witt was promoted to Senior Vice President of Construction with responsibilities including oversight of all company construction activities. He holds the company’s Florida State General Contractor’s License.
Outside of his work in the company, Mr. Witt is currently the President of the North Florida Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association and has represented the company on the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, ABC and AGC. He is involved with a number of charitable organizations including Board Member of the” Vision is Priceless Council”, the Jacksonville School for Autism, United Way, First Coast Kids Triathlon and Episcopal School of Jacksonville.
E.E. Witt, Sr.
Senior Vice President
Mr. Witt, member of the Board of Directors, has been with Miller Electric Company since 1957. He served in the capacities of electrician, foreman, superintendent, estimator, project manager, vice president, and Assistant General Manager. His experience in industrial job management spans more than 40 years.
Mr. Witt served for twelve years on the National Management Development Committee for the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). He served two years on the Council for Industrial Relations, which handles electrical labor/management disputes nationwide. He was Contractor Representative on the Joint Apprenticeship Committee for twelve years and has served for many years on the Negotiations Committee for labor agreements in different jurisdictions. He served as Governor of the North Florida Chapter/NECA for sixteen years, and as Vice President at Large for the NECA.
Mr. Witt is State Certified as an Electrical Contractor in Florida.
Mr. Autrey is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Miller Electric Company. He has been with the company since his start in the industry in 1975 and has worked in every market area of the company. Mr. Autrey is State Certified as an Electrical Contractor and General Contractor in Florida and other States.
As President, he directed the expansion of Miller Electric into ten branch offices located in eight states and significantly increased the financial performance of the company. With the support of his team of Division Vice Presidents, the revenue and profits tripled over a four year time span.
Mr. Autrey is past Chairman of the State of Florida’s Electrical Contractor’s Licensing Board where he served two four year appointments. He served on The Executive Committee of the National Electrical Contractors Association as the Vice President at Large.
His community service accomplishments include service on the Boy Scouts of America North Florida Advisory Board, the Council of Stewards for the Jacksonville Community Council Inc (JCCI), and the executive committee of JaxUSA Partnership. He is a past Chairman of the Jax Chamber, and the Board of Trustees of the Jacksonville University.
He currently serves on the Board of the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens.
Mr. Autrey’s formal education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Jacksonville University, and construction management study at Florida International University. Following electronics maintenance training in the U.S. Army Security Agency, he was extensively trained in the contractor education programs of the National Electrical Contractor’s Association. He received an Honorary Doctorate of Business and Commerce from Jacksonville University in 2012.
H.E. “Buck” Autrey
Mr. Autrey, Miller Electric Company’s Chairman Emeritus, has been with the Company since 1951. He has served in the capacities of electrician, foreman, general foreman, superintendent, estimator, project manager, vice president, and president since 1966. During these years he has supervised electrical construction in all phases of the industry.
In addition, Mr. Autrey has served the National Electrical Contractors Association in many offices including President and Governor of the North Florida Chapter/NECA, Vice President for the Southeastern District/NECA, and from 1980-86 was the National President of NECA. He is Past Chairman of the Electrical Contractors Research Foundation.
Mr. Autrey is State Certified as an Electrical Contractor in Florida and also holds Electrical Contractor Competency Licenses for the company in the States of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Virginia and Tennessee.
